The French Alumni Association in Hong Kong and Macau (FAA), supported by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and Campus France Hong Kong, is proud to announce a series of exciting events commemorating European Heritage Days 2025 this September and October.
European Heritage Days, celebrated annually in September, aim to encourage public engagement with the rich historical heritage of cities across Europe. This year’s theme, “Architectural Heritage: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future”, emphasizes the vital role of buildings as markers of history and sources of inspiration for future generations.
In alignment with this theme, the French Alumni Association's programme will highlight the significance of French architecture in Hong Kong while also delving into the vibrant cultural heritage of the Francophonie.
The festivities will kick off with an opening ceremony and a guided tour of French architectural landmarks on 13 September. Dr. Charles Lai, an architect (RIBA) and researcher specialising in the history and conservation of Hong Kong and Asian modern architecture, will lead a tour of the historic Christ the King Chapel. Built in 1928 by the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres, this chapel is a testament to the enduring influence of French architectural styles in Hong Kong.
