In keeping with the traditions of French Engineering schools (grandes écoles d'ingénieurs), Centrale Nantes, founded in 1919, trains versatile engineers to a very high scientific and technical level. Equipped with a strong managerial culture, they are capable of placing scientific subjects into a global context incorporating environmental and societal issues.

DESCRIPTION OF INSTITUTION

Centrale Nantes was founded in 1919 and is in the Top 4 of French higher education and research institutions in Science & Engineering. Its purpose is to develop top level scientists and engineers in multidisciplinary and specific fields. Thanks to its collaboration with economic bodies, global companies and other networks, Centrale Nantes was one of the very first schools to combine three activities within its structure: Education, Research and Industrial Studies. Centrale Nantes has more than 190 partner universities in the world. On campus, we have 2,500 students and 6 national cutting-edge research institutes.43% of our students are international students and they come from 87 different countries.

Mr. Laurent Perret
Associate Professor, City and Urban Environment Master’s Programme, Centrale Nantes

Laurent Perret is an Associate Professor in Fluid Mechanics and Atmospheric Flows at Centrale Nantes (France). He is the head of the 1st year of the Master of Science in City and Urban Environment at Centrale Nantes. He holds a PhD degree in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Poitiers. His current research interests include urban-canopy turbulence, urban canopy-lower atmosphere interaction, flow estimation and low-order modeling.
