It's time to prepare for your scholarship application in order to study in France! In this article, Campus France and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong sum up all the scholarships we provide for the year of 2026.

Apply now for the France Excellence - Yersin Scholarship 2026

Apply for our annual French Government scholarship programme that supports the best students in Hong Kong and Macau in the pursuit of their studies in France at Master’s level.

Yersin scholarship

What is the France Excellence - Yersin Scholarship?

Since 2000, the French Consulate has supported more than 160 students from Hong Kong and Macau to pursue a Master’s degree in France.

The France Excellence Yersin Scholarship goes hand in hand with promoting the excellence, diversity and quality of French higher education, and encouraging deeper cooperation between France and Hong Kong as well as France and Macau. Through this scholarship, we aspire to create remarkable leaders who strive for further developments and international understanding in their respective fields.

The scholarship covers one year of studies and training in a Master 1 or Master 2 (grant period cannot exceed 2 years).

  • What is included ?

Benefits of the scholarship include the following:

  • Living allowance of 860€ per month
  • Exemption of EEF (Études en France) platform fee (HKD $1800)
  • Exemption of visa application fee (50€)
  • Exemption of the registration fee (frais d’inscription) at public institutions: 3879€ for a Master degree (depending on the nature of the degree, the registration fee might differ)
  • Social welfare, public liability and repatriation insurance
  • Free additional health insurance (mutuelle) which costs 300€ for non-laureates
  • A public accommodation will be provided by Campus France at below market rent (300€-600€ against 800€-1000€ at a private accommodation)
  • Meal discount at university restaurants with meals at 1€
  • A dedicated team from Campus France that organizes social and cultural activities to help students settle in France
  • Round trip flight tickets from Hong Kong to Paris*
    *To be confirmed each year, for one round trip ticket only.

Am I eligible?

  • Hong Kong or Macau permanent residents ;
  • Planning to pursue a national Master’s degree or equivalent in France from 2025. For programmes lasting more than 1 year, a renewal application will be required;
  • Not holding French nationality or dual citizenship which includes French nationality;
  • No concurrent scholarships except from your institution; *
  • It is not compulsory to know French but non-French speaking laureates are encouraged to take French classes during their studies in France.

NOT eligible: PhD students, applicants pursuing short-term programmes (e.g.trainees or summer courses), or a stay within an exchange program at a French institution.

*If you institution grants you a scholarship/ fee waiver and you obtain the France Excellence Scholarship, your institution will need to provide a letter acknowledging and agreeing to the accumulation of the two scholarships;

French+Gastronomy Scholarship 2026

French+Gastronomy 2025

What is the French+ Gastronomy scholarship?

Do you have a culinary or hospitality management background? If you are an undergraduate student from Hong Kong or Macau and would like to master culinary techniques while staying for a month in summer in France to learn the French language, the French+Gastronomy Programme is for you!

You will be staying in Rouen in Normandy renowned for its food culture and scenic landscapes for 3 weeks. The programme combines French courses, cultural discoveries and exciting workshops in the hotel and restaurant industry.

You can register for the programme as a self-financed student but the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau will also provide a few scholarships for students who demonstrate excellent culinary background and a motivation for going to France.

How and when to apply?

Send your CV and motivation letter to campus-france.hong-kong-cslt@diplomatie.gouv.fr explaining your academic and professional projects and why you are choosing to go to France, with the following subject format “French + Gastronomy 2025 NAME First Name” in the email.

Contact your university directly (VTC, UTM, PolyU) with the following documents:

Each university will select some students and the Consulate will announce the results around on the 30th of March.

The number of scholarships will be confirmed later. As a reference, in 2025, 3 scholarships were available.

French+Sciences Programme

French+Sciences 2025

We are delighted to announce that applications are welcome for our 2026 French+Sciences scholarships!

What is the French+Sciences scholarship?

You are a student doing an undergraduate scientific or technologic programme at a university in Hong Kong or Macau and are ready to elevate your academic journey while learning French? Join one of the five French+ Sciences programmes for a short stay of 3-4 weeks focusing on specific themes with internationally recognized language centres en France, certified as "Label Quality FLE"!

Choose your area of interest:

  • "Focus on Outdoor Sports" (at Accents and Université Savoie Mont-Blanc, Chambéry & Annecy)
  • "Focus on Sustainable Development" (at Accents Français, Montpellier)
  • "Science and Technology of the Sea" (at Ciel Bretagne, Brest)
  • "Micro, Nano & Smart Technology For Industrial Applications" (at CLA Université Marie & Louis Pasteur, Dijon & Belfort)

Attachments should be renamed as:

to France). Your letter must also include the name of the programme you are applying to and a
second choice in case you cannot be accepted on your first choice.

Anita Conti Scholarship (for HKUST students)

What is the Anita Conti Sustainable Innovation Fellowship?

The Anita Conti Sustainable Innovation Fellowship is a scholarship program established in honor of Anita Conti, a scientist known for her significant contributions to ocean research and her lifelong dedication to ocean conservation. This fellowship is a collaborative effort between The Hong Kong University for Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, to bring together their collective commitment towards environmental protection.

The program seeks to support and empower individuals who demonstrate excellent potential in ALL areas of sustainability and environmental innovation. It provides selected scholars with financial assistance, research opportunities, and access to a network of experts and resources in their respective fields.

The program aims to inspire future generations of researchers, innovators, and environmentalists face of climate change and its impacts on our environment.

CONDITION OF ELIGIBILTY

1 – Conditions

Applicants must meet the following conditions: 

  • Be a PhD or Post-doc researcher at HKUST.
  • Open to all nationalities* but priority given to Hong Kong and Macau Permanent Residents. 
    *(French citizens are not eligible.)
  • Be involved in research related to sustainability issues. ALL fields accepted (Business, Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, etc).

2 – Benefits

The Anita Conti Sustainable Innovation Fellowship amounts to 59 000HKD* and includes:  

  • Air plane tickets costs,
  • Monthly living allowance in France,
  • Social welfare, public liability and repatriation insurance.
  • Support for cheap accomodation

The fellowship will take place during for maximum 3 months in France with no interruption.

*Subject to exchange rates modification.

3 – Documents

To be submitted with the application: 

  • Application form
  • Cover letter detailing the research project related to sustainability and the reasons why the applicant wishes to pursue a high-level scientific mobility in France.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Invitation letter from the chosen laboratory in France with the dates of the high-level scientific mobility and the logo of the laboratory.
  • 2 reference letters.
  • Proof of enrolment in a PhD, post-doctorate or research assistant contract in HKUST.
  • Copy of the identity document.

4 – Selection criteria

  • Conducting a research related to sustainability issues.
  • Coherence between the research project conducted and the chosen laboratory/host faculty.
  • Academic and professional excellence.
  • Minimum level of English required: B2.
  • Demonstrated interest for France in an asset.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset but not compulsory.  
  • Upon completion of the program, the awardees are required to submit a report of around 500 words in WORD document, along with 3-5 photos for promotional purposes

5 – Timeline

Nov 2025 – 31 Jan 2026

Candidates look for a laboratory/host faculty in France, prepare the required documents and submit the application

March 2026

Official result announcement to the Awardees

Awardees apply for Visa to stay in France, if necessary

What is the IESEG x CGF Women in Tech Scholarship?

Starting from 2025, the IÉSEG School of Management and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau are co-financing a scholarship scheme aiming at promoting higher education in France in the field of management. The scholarship is awarded to one woman with permanent residency in Hong Kong or Macau interested in pursuing the Global MBA –TECHNOLOGY PROJECT WITH LE WAGON program at IÉSEG School of Management.

Am I eligible?

The applicant must:

  • be a woman with permanent residency in Hong Kong or Macau
  • be enrolled in Global MBA –TECHNOLOGY PROJECT WITH LE WAGON program at IÉSEG School of Management

What is included?

The awardee of the scholarship will receive the following benefits:

  • 50% waiver on the tuition fee provided by IÉSEG School of Management
  • The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong will award a BCS (Bourse de Couverture Sociale) scholarship providing the laureate with the status of French government scholarship holder and covering the following benefits: social welfare, public liability and repatriation insurance, assistance in finding affordable accommodation (priority access to CROUS; subject to availability), Visa and Etudes en France platform fee waiver.
