The 12th European Higher Education Fair ended with a great success in which 4,800 visitors came to the Hong Kong Central library on 10th and 11th March 2012 for gathering more information on studying opportunities in Europe.

This year, as one of our officiating guests, Dr. Catherine K.K. Chan, Deputy Secretary for Education, participated in our opening ceremony to express the HKSAR government’s support with the presence of Mr Asad BEG (Head of Political, Press and Information section,Office of the European Union to Hong Kong & Macau)  and Consul General of France, Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy, as well as representatives from all participating European countries.

Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy, Consul General of France, signed on the book of France to represent the presence of French schools in the fair.

For EHEF 2012, CampusFrance set up a unique system which enabled students to reserve a 20 minutes timeslots for individual consultation with French academic institutions. This system turned each consultation more efficient as the schools understood the background and the enquiries of visitors beforehand. The feedbacks from both parties on the system were positive.

CampusFrance has also worked with the Department of Product and Interior Design (PID) of Hong Kong Design Institute to launch a booth design competition for CampusFrance. Although the competitors are only in their second year in school, their excellent proposals gave us a lot of new ideas on the usage of our booth. Finally, Fung Wing Mui won the competition whose design is clear and simple to give an image of France to visitors. Besides the first realization of her design from paper to a proper booth, she also received a scholarship provided by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao and CampusFrance Hong Kong Office to pursue a summer course in France. Congratulations, Mui!

Great Success for French participants in the fair was shown in the popularity in their booths during the whole event. France has been the 1st country of the European Union (Except Britain) in welcoming Hong Kong & Macao students. The fact that gradual increase in the programmes taught in English, more affordable tuition fee and living expenses as well as the quality of life attracted 440 students from Hong Kong & Macao to study in France. It proved that language is not longer a barrier for students pursuing their study in France.
